Subject: Planning for the Presidential Search
The Board of Trustees is committed to reaffirming a crucial element of the Montgomery College mission: tending to our internal spirit. As such, we recognize the need for openness and widely shared communication, particularly with regards to a topic of utmost importance to the college community like the upcoming presidential search.
The Board of Trustees recently devoted two days to a facilitated discussion here at the College about the steps necessary to prepare for the upcoming search. The Board recognized how fortunate the College is to have Dr. Pinkney leading the institution as interim president. We are grateful the College community has rallied around Dr. Pinkney's efforts to restore stability to the College while providing exceptional learning opportunities to our students. Dr. Pinkney's leadership allows the Board time to thoughtfully prepare and run the search that will lead to our new president.
The Board has reviewed past presidential searches and benchmarked our processes against recommended best practices. In the next few weeks, the Board will issue a request for proposals to identify a search firm to support the recruitment effort. The Board will also consult with various stakeholders to build a Search Advisory Committee to guide the search process.
The Board is committed to keeping the College community informed throughout the process. Thank you for your continued dedication and service to Montgomery College.
