Montgomery College, Women's Bar Foundation to Host Seminar for High School Students on "Preparing for Success," Nov. 21

Montgomery College and the Montgomery County Women's Bar Foundation are hosting the eighth annual "Preparing for Success" seminar for local high school girls on Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Theatre Arts Arena at Montgomery College's Rockville Campus.
The all-day program is designed for high school girls who plan to attend college or enter the workforce. Workshops are offered on topics such as résumé writing and interview techniques; getting into college and paying for it; a survivor's guide to independence; and street law and safety issues. An event tradition, The Right Look fashion show with models selected from the program's participants, will conclude the day's activities.
The program is free of charge and open to high school students in public, private, and alternative schools, as well as girls in independent living programs. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Free bus service to the event will be provided from several local high schools. Pick-up at Watkins Mill High School is at 9 a.m. Service from Montgomery Blair, Gaithersburg and Paint Branch High Schools is at 9:15 a.m. Buses will also pick up students at Quince Orchard, Einstein, and Blake High Schools at 9:30 a.m.
Additional "Preparing for Success" sponsors are the Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery County Commission for Women, the J. Franklyn Bourne Association, and the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association.
