Spoken-word poetry has its roots in the Civil Rights movement and uses the human voice to add layers of meaning to narratives designed to inflect and promote social commentary. This event is an extension of the Maryland Humanities Council's presentation, "Music of the Movement, The Impact of Music on the Civil Rights Movement," also Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring Performing Arts Center. For more information about "Music of the Movement," please visit http://www.mdhc.org.

Both events are free and open to the public.

Please email me or call 2400-567-7417 with any questions.

We hope to see you there!
