On Friday, September 25, Professor Corinne Smith of the health information management program presented at the District of Columbia Health Information Management Association Fall Meeting. In her presentation, "ICD-9-CM 2010 Code Updates", Professor Smith detailed the changes to diagnostic coding implemented by the National Center for Health Statistics beginning in October. The content of this presentation is a crucial part of correct code assignment for hospital medical record technicians. In attendance were more than 45 health information management professionals from various healthcare organizations in the DC metro area.
