Please retain this information for reference or for updating syllabi. Montgomery College will always operate on its regular schedule unless otherwise announced. You will be able to determine the College's operational status during inclement weather or other emergencies through the following means: <ul><li>Montgomery College ALERT - This service can send cell phone text messages and/or e-mail messages to subscribers in the event of a weather-related closure or delayed opening and major emergencies. To learn how to sign up for this service, please visit http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/emergency. <li>Montgomery College Web site - Check the College's Web site at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu. A message will be place on the front page in the event of a closure or delayed opening. <li>Faculty and staff voice mail - Call in to check your voice mail, which will be updated with a broadcast message. If you are calling from home or off-site, dial 240-567-1701, insert your extension number, press * and enter your pass code. <li>Faculty and staff e-mail - Faculty and staff with e-mail should log on to the e-mail service to receive notice. A collegewide e-mail will be sent to announce closures or delays. To log on from home or off-site, visit http://mcmail.montgomerycollege.edu. <li>Montgomery College main phone number - Call 240-567-5000 to hear an updated message, in the event of closures or delays. Do not call security or the campuses for an update. <li>Montgomery College Television - Tune in to Montgomery College's own television station, cable channel 10 within Montgomery County. <li>Area radio and television stations - Dozens of commercial radio and TV stations are also notified about Montgomery College's operational status. Among the stations with most frequent updates are: Television - NBC Channel 4/WRC; Fox Channel 5/WTTG; Channel 7/WJLA; Channel 9/WUSA; and Cable News Channel 8. Radio - WTOP (103.5 FM), WMAL (630 AM), WAMU (88.5 FM). In the Frederick area, check WFMD/WFRE.</ul> The Office of Communications notifies the media and in-house communications systems as early as possible, once the decision is made to close or delay opening. If no announcement is made, assume the College is open. Hailed by <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/aug/23/the-memory-police-yoko-ogawa-review" target="_blank">The Guardian</a> as, "a masterpiece, meditating on totalitarianism and resistance as well as the rhythms of life and death," The Memory Police will spark rich discussions on the themes of memory, loss, and individual autonomy. We will meet every two weeks, covering about five chapters at each meeting. The AANHPI Book Club reads books written by Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) authors. The AANHPI experience is a living, breathing, and evolving culture that deserves its own study. We will learn, understand, and attempt to define the AANHPI experience through the reading and discussions of these books. Discover How MC's Assessment Centers Can Help You.The Assessment and Testing Centers, in collaboration with Center for Teaching and Learning, is offering an online workshop on using the testing services at Montgomery College. Faculty members who expect to use the Assessment and Testing Centers for in-person testing are invited to attend. The workshop will focus on RegisterBlast, the platform faculty will use to submit, edit, and retrieve their tests and students will use to make their testing appointments. Tips will be shared to facilitate a seamless testing process and a positive experience for faculty and students. Staff will be ready to answer questions from individual faculty members. We will also share resources on using HonorLock, the third-party service for online proctoring. We hope to see you!
