Professor KenYatta Rogers Featured on WAMU's Kojo Nmamdi Show
Montgomery College Professor KenYatta Rogers directs a reading of "The Green Book" at the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7:45 p.m. The reading is from the play by Calvin Alexander Ramsey, featuring former NAACP chairman Julian Bond. Radio host Kojo Nmamdi from WAMU 88.5 FM interviewed both men on his show Monday afternoon. Listen at: http://thekojonnamdishow.org/shows/2010-09-13/green-book-and-segregated-america. According to the Lincoln Theatre, "The Green Book" play is inspired by "The Negro Motorist Green Book," a travel guide used by African-Americans when much of the United States was segregated. The play tells the enthralling story of a Holocaust survivor and an African-American salesman, and how their lives intersect in 1950's America. The Green Book is the first of "Backstage at the Lincoln" an exceptional series of live play readings presented in partnership with Theater J and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $25 includes a pre-event VIP reception. For more information visit http://www.lovethelincoln.com or the call the box office at 202-328-6000.
