Please join us for the Teaching with the Smithsonian Learning Lab: Interdisciplinary Workshop and Networking Event on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 2-7 p.m. The event will be held on the Montgomery College's Rockville Campus. RSVP is required.

This is a hands-on workshop for faculty, staff and librarians from all disciplines to introduce them to the Smithsonian Learning Lab educational platform. Attendees will build skills and confidence in using the Learning Lab to search, collect and share. We will also highlight digital primary source materials offered through the Library of Congress. We'll bring together faculty, staff and librarians from across the region--to learn, share ideas and build friendships. The workshop provides time for playing with the learning lab platform and for searching digital primary sources.

Please share information about this workshop with faculty and librarians from community colleges and four year universities in our region.

We provide coffee service in the afternoon and a light supper.

Participants Will

*establish an account with the Smithsonian Learning Lab; learn to search collections and use the Learning Lab tools;
*begin to build your own Learning Lab collection and consider how you may incorporate collections into new or existing assignments;
*hear from faculty representing a number of disciplines about how they are using the Learning Lab in their classes;
*become familiar with the Teaching with the Library of Congress materials, and learn how to obtain an LOC Reader Card;
*hear about how Montgomery College faculty integrate museum learning into classes, across the disciplines; and
*enjoy meeting faculty, staff and librarians from our region who share your interest in trying new technologies and teaching techniques.
