Earlier this year the Montgomery College - Smithsonian Faculty Fellowship (Fellowship) program celebrated its 20th year with a reception at the Smithsonian Castle. The Fellowship has trained more than 180 MC faculty to date. The year-long program begins in the spring, when Fellows travel to museums with a focus on producing new theme-based lessons and assignments that they integrate with fall semester field trips to Smithsonian Institution museums. Fellows collaborate to experiment with proven and novel pedagogical approaches to help students to become more capable using museums to ask and answer questions. The field trips help students form--and reflect upon--connections to their lives beyond the classroom.

Denise Dewhurst (Psychology, GT) is a co-coordinator for the Fellowship program. She worked with MC's IT team to develop a beautiful new blog that helps to tell the stories behind the MC-Smithsonian Faculty Fellowship experience.

Have you wondered what the Fellowship experience might be like? What do the Smithsonian's talented and committed educators and curators share with Fellows? How might these experiences be helpful to you, in your discipline and your courses? We invite you to learn more about the program from this new blog:

The Fellowship is the signature program of the Paul Peck Humanities Institute at Montgomery. For more information about the Fellowship, please contact program coordinator Professor Mimi Mann, or co-cordinator Professor Denise Dewhurst,
