Dear MC Family:
As many of you have learned, our colleague and friend, Mitch Tropin, passed suddenly on Thursday, November 20th.
Mitch has been an integral part of the Montgomery College community since 2003, serving with dedication and unwavering commitment to our students. Over more than two decades at MC, Mitch made a lasting impact as the faculty adviser for the Germantown student newspaper, The Globe, where he mentored countless student journalists and nurtured their voices. His excellence in teaching and service was recognized in 2017 when he was selected as Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Member, a testament to the respect and admiration he earned across our community. Mitch was also an active member of the MC Part-Time Faculty Union, SEIU Local 500, and recently won his bid to serve as the treasurer where he advocated passionately for his colleagues and the well-being of part-time faculty.
Mitch's kindness and dedication to students and colleagues will be greatly missed. A memorial event honoring his life will take place on February 2 at 3 p.m. on the Germantown campus in BE-151. There will be time for anyone who would like to share a personal anecdote or words to honor Mitch.
