Upcoming Free Planetarium Shows

The Planetarium at Montgomery College invites you to free planetarium shows on the first Friday of each month throughout the fall semester! Inside the planetarium, located in the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building on the TP/SS campus, we are able to simulate the night sky including planets, nebulae, galaxies, and a host of celestial objects and imagery. We aim to bring free immersive, educational, and interactive programming to all.

Free tickets for all programs must be reserved in advance at the Planetarium at Montgomery College's UBMe events page: https://www.ubme.com/39923~carriefitz

Planetarium Shows on Friday, September 4:

  • Messengers of Time and Space - 7 p.m.

Explore the dynamic cosmos and witness how data shapes the way we understand the Universe. This show highlights how the International Gemini Observatory will work together with observatories that monitor the night sky for exciting astronomical events that change with time. Sometimes, light is not the only indicator of these short-term events; information can reach us through other messengers like cosmic rays, elusive particles called neutrinos, and even gravitational waves rippling through the Universe.

Recommended for ages 10+.

  • Under Our Sky - 8 p.m.

Join us for a LIVE tour of tonight's night sky, including constellations, planets, and nebulas you can spot right here in Takoma Park. Then, explore beyond what our eyes can see by combining the power of electromagnetic radiation, enormous telescopes, and the planetarium theater to travel beyond our Solar System.

Recommended for ages 6+.

Questions? Please reach out to Erin Benitez, the Planetarium Lab Coordinator, at erin.benitez@montgomerycollege.edu. We hope to see you at the planetarium soon!
