Published: Monday, October 5, 2026

What role can each of us play in ensuring that no student has to navigate college alone? Advising Day 2026 will bring faculty and staff together to strengthen our shared understanding of student advising, build connections across the College, and expand the network of resources that helps students persist, achieve their goals, and thrive.

This engaging professional development event will take place on Tuesday, October 20, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in person at all three campuses and serves as a non-instructional duty day for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs faculty and staff.

Through interactive workshops, realistic student case studies, coordinated care activities, and student perspectives, participants will strengthen their understanding of the many resources, processes, and partnerships that support student success. Sessions will explore graduation requirements, General Education, academic program pathways, educational planning, transfer and career planning, financial aid processes, accessibility and accommodations, and key compliance considerations. Faculty and staff will also gain greater familiarity with College processes such as appeals, incompletes, and credit for prior learning opportunities.

Attendees will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from across MC while building practical skills for advising students. Participants will explore advising tools, including Starfish, Degree Works, and Degree Planner, and learn how these technologies can improve communication, coordination, and care across the student experience. Those who complete the program will have the opportunity to earn MC's Advising Foundations badge.

Additional details and registration information will be shared soon.

Join us on October 20 to learn, connect, and strengthen our collective impact on student success together.
