Latest Update on the Montgomery College Foundation

Montgomery College Foundation Update - September 21, 2011 * The Foundation raised $3.58 Million in cash and pledges for FY'11 which ended on June 30. This represents a 12 percent increase over last year's fundraising total. The Foundation also surged ahead with a 15 percent increase in the number of donors. In FY'11, the Foundation had 1,933 donors, an increase of more than 250 donors from FY'10. * The Foundation has raised $416,000 in cash and pledges for FY'12 as of today. This represents a 4 percent increase over last year's fundraising total at this time. The goal for the year is to raise $3.75 Million in cash and pledges by June 30, 2012. * The Foundation completed the purchase of the Goldenrod Building at the Germantown campus on behalf of the College in early September. The building will be renamed and dedicated as the Paul Peck Academic Innovation Center in the spring of 2012. The name change will be reflected in the 2012-13 academic year's College materials and publications. * The county council unanimously approved the rezoning of the Maryland College of Art and Design (MCAD) property this week. The MCAD property has been owned by the Montgomery College Foundation since 2004 and was zoned in two different and conflicting ways. The rezoning will enable the foundation to sell the property and use the assets to further support the College's mission. * Rose Garvin Aquilino, director of corporate and foundation relations, secured a $198,000 gift from Kaiser Permanente for health sciences equipment on July 6 to start the new fiscal year off well. Associate Development Director LaVerne Gordon secured a $50,000 scholarship gift from a donor on August 15, and Associate Development Director David Stein received a $25,000 scholarship bequest intention from a donor on September 7. * The Montgomery College Foundation Golf and Tennis Classic will take place on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Woodmont Country Club. Raffle tickets are now available for the Lexus of Champions golf trip at Pebble Beach. Tickets are $100 each and only 250 tickets will be sold. The student assistance funds have been invaluable to providing books, art supplies and other educational materials to students who cannot afford them.
