June 22, MC Pride & Allies Consortium on LGBTQ Campus Advocacy: "How Do You Do IT?"

On June 22, faculty, staff, students and members of the community will gather to discuss best strategies for creating campus cultures that are accepting of LGBTQ people. There are so many of us, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members, who are doing wonderful work but also so many who do not know where to begin in creating LGBTQ-welcoming campuses. This consortium gives us the opportunity to talk with one another and to support one another. The day-long event, to be held on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus (HS 222), will include participants from area colleges and universities and will feature keynote speaker Luke Jensen, director of the LGBTQ Equity Center at The University of Maryland. Co-sponsored by Dr. Brad Stewart, vice president and provost of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus; Dr. Tony Hawkins, dean of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at TP/SS; the Women's Studies Program; the Office of Equity and Diversity; and The Center for Profesional & Organizational Development.
