MC Bookstores: Temporary Closings and Transitions to New Operations
MONTGOMERY COLLEGE Office of the Senior Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Services From March 25, 2016 MEMORANDUM To: The College Community From: Dr. Janet Wormack, Senior Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Services Subject: MC Bookstores: Temporary Closings and Transitions to New Operations On Monday, April 4, the transition of Montgomery College bookstore operations to Follett Higher Education Group, Inc., will be complete. The new stores, both online and on campus, will be open for business. Follett is the largest college store operator in North America, operating more than 1,200 campus stores and 1,600 virtual stores throughout the US. Follett is dedicated to the development of flexible technologies that streamline the processes to enhance student success. The Follett series of academic tools and utilities will provide campuses, faculty, and students with a one-stop shop for their academic needs. As the transition nears, inventory work and other preparations will take place next week. As a result, bookstore hours will be as follows:
  • Monday, March 28: All stores are OPEN from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 29: All stores are OPEN from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 30: Germantown and Rockville stores are OPEN 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; the Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Cafritz stores will be CLOSED
  • Thursday, March 31: All stores are CLOSED
  • Friday, April 1: All stores are CLOSED
  • Saturday, April 2: All stores are CLOSED As of Monday, April 4, the bookstores will be on their regular schedule of service. All campus store phone numbers and websites will remain unchanged. During the summer, Follett will renovate the stores with an enhanced focus on the needs of our students and faculty. The stores will remain open during that time. Once the renovations are complete, a grand opening will be scheduled. The Follett transition team has also been working closely with our employees who will transition to become Follett employees working at the Montgomery College Bookstore. As promised, Bookstore Advisory Groups for each campus will be established to further ensure that the needs and expectations of our faculty and students are met. The groups will assist Follett in serving the needs of the College. I want to once again thank all of the bookstore employees for their dedicated service to the College and for their contributions to student success. Please continue to submit your questions regarding the bookstores transition to MCBookstores@MontgomeryCollege.edu and check the Auxiliary Services website for answers to frequently asked questions.
