Upcoming Training Opportunity: "Recognizing and Reporting Child Maltreatment"
Kristen Roe, youth protection coordinator, has arranged for representatives from Montgomery County Child Welfare to provide a 1-hour training entitled "Recognizing and Reporting Child Maltreatment." This training will give staff and faculty an opportunity to hear directly from those in the field who are responsible for receiving and responding to reports of suspected abuse and neglect. There will be time to ask questions you have about the law and how to make a report. As part of Montgomery College's on-going efforts to protect children, all employees of the College are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect. In addition, those individuals who interact with minors on behalf of the College are required to follow specified behavioral expectations, complete background screening, and participate in training as detailed in the College's Protection of Minors Policy (75005CP). RSVP for the event by sending an email to Kristen Roe, youth protection coordinator, at Kristen.Roe@montgomerycollege.edu. When: Friday, January 27th 10 to 11 a.m. (snow date February 3) Where: Mannakee Building, RM 318 Why:
  • Learn about mandatory reporting laws for suspected child abuse and neglect
  • Learn how to spot child abuse and neglect
  • Have your questions answered
