The Presidential Scholars Program is designed to increase the representation of underrepresented men in high-wage, high-demand careers by supporting students academically, professionally, and personally. Many of our scholars are first-generation college students who benefit tremendously from guidance, encouragement, and access to individuals who can help them navigate college, careers, and life. A highlight of the event will be a student panel, where students will share their advising needs, reflect on their experiences, and offer insights into what has most effectively supported their success. Their perspectives will help ground the conversation in the lived realities of MC students and reinforce the importance of coordinated, student-centered advising. In addition to the student panel, members of the Academic Advising Leadership Team will present the proposed model and outline the roles and responsibilities of program advisors, counselors, and success coaches within this holistic advising framework. Participants will then engage in breakout sessions focused on advising roles and responsibilities, with opportunities to provide input about the model's design and identify gaps, resource needs, and professional development priorities. Beginning with the summer 2027 session, there is a new, easier way for students to register for classes. To register for summer 2027 classes, follow the instructions below: <ol> <li>Register for classes by logging in to MyMC, and navigating to the Register and Pay for Classes card. Click the Register Now link.</li> <li>From the Registration menu, click Register for Classes.</li> <li>On the Select a Term page, choose the Summer 2026 term, then click Continue.</li> <li>On the Register for Classes page, enter your search criteria and click Search or Advanced Search to view available classes.</li> </ol> Tip: Once the search results appear, click the course title, which is a hyperlink that opens the course details. Hailed by <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/aug/23/the-memory-police-yoko-ogawa-review" target="_blank">The Guardian</a> as, "a masterpiece, meditating on totalitarianism and resistance as well as the rhythms of life and death," The Memory Police will spark rich discussions on the themes of memory, loss, and individual autonomy. Our first meeting will take place in late September. Those interested in joining the Book Club can e-mail Yvonne Hu-Cotto, Michelle Chan, and/or Nghi Nguyen.
